Supporting those who serve: Marking Armed Forces Week 2026
Armed Forces Week recognises the exceptional contribution of service personnel – past and present.
It is also an opportunity to celebrate the people within our business who bring the values, skills and experiences of military service into our work every day.
From commitment to action
Our approach aligns with wider national efforts to strengthen support for the Armed Forces community. Earlier this year, we joined the 5% Club’s Parliamentary launch of its Armed Forces Special Interest Group at the House of Lords.
The group focuses on key priorities including early service leavers, cadet development, Reservist support and removing barriers faced by military families. With thousands leaving the armed forces each year – many highly skilled and apprenticeship-qualified – the opportunity to support progression into meaningful civilian careers is significant.
Celebrating our people
At the centre of this work are our people.
This year, we are proud to see both the business and our colleagues recognised in the Forces in Business Awards, the world’s largest celebration of veterans in second careers.
We have been shortlisted in the Advocate of the Year category, alongside four of our colleagues – Chris Yates, Steve Witty, Matthew Mullins and Iain Charnley – recognised individually for their achievements. Iain’s shortlist for Reservist of the Year is particularly timely, with the awards taking place shortly after Reserves Day on 24 June.
A gold standard commitment
A key milestone came in November 2025, when we were awarded Gold in the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) – the highest honour.
This recognition reflects the collective effort across our business to support veterans, Reservists, service families and Cadet Force adult volunteers.
The award was presented to Head of Recruitment and Andrew Stevenson, Chair of our Armed Forces Affinity Group. Andrew has played a leading role in supporting service leavers through mentoring and our partnership with BuildForce, helping individuals transition successfully into civilian careers.
Scott Corey, Chief of Strategic Accounts and Services, also demonstrated this commitment in action by taking part in the Defence Infrastructure Organisation’s Cycling Through History challenge across the Fields of Flanders. His efforts, supported by The Peter Willmott Foundation, raised £6,550 for the Veterans’ Foundation charity.
By sharing stories, celebrating achievements and continuing to take action, we continue to strengthen the connection between industry and those who serve.
