Willmott Dixon has been a long-standing partner of the charity Building for the Furture, donating over £120,000 since 2019.

The team from Willmott Dixon’s Weybridge office presented a cheque for £10,000 to Berkshire-based charity Building for the Future, a Berkshire-based charity providing activities, support and therapy for children living with disabilities and additional needs, and their families.

It comes as Willmott Dixon and its supply chain partners work with the charity on a bigger, purpose-built space called ‘Ability Hub’, which will enable it to support even more people.

The cheque presented last week is vital for the charity during this construction and fit-out period, with the funds going towards supporting accessibility, play opportunities and independent skills development within the new centre for children and young adults.

Set to open this summer, the new space will offer a safe environment where children and young adults with complex needs can find acceptance and opportunity and will include the charity’s first-ever enterprise centre for young adults – a place where they can develop skills, hobbies, businesses and friendships, surrounded by expert support.

The donation was made through the Peter Willmott Foundation. Inspired by Peter Willmott’s vision of ‘purpose beyond profit’, the foundation helps to fund life-changing causes, making a real difference to communities and the environment.

Over the years, the foundation has donated more than £1.3 million to good causes, with 80,000 hours of Willmott Dixon employees’ time also volunteered, supporting thousands of people and hundreds of community projects.

Richard Poulter, Managing Director of Willmott Dixon in the South, said:

“I feel honoured to be able to present this cheque on behalf of Willmott Dixon and the Peter Willmott Foundation. This is the first donation of its kind and scale since launching the foundation, which is incredible. As a long-standing supporter of Building for the Future, I know that this money is going to make a massive difference for the charity and that’s exactly what the Peter Willmott Foundation is about, it’s about helping to support our communities, giving back in ways that make a big difference.”

Jane Holmes, CEO of Building for the Future, commented:

“We were absolutely blown away by this hugely generous donation from the Peter Willmott Foundation which came as a complete surprise. This year has been our biggest yet as we grow into new premises, creating a huge, purpose-designed hub for disabled children and young adults. Without the amazing support of Willmott Dixon’s team in the South over the years, we quite simply wouldn’t have been able to achieve this. The wonderful donation from the Peter Willmott Foundation is the icing on an already very generous cake! Thank you all so much for helping us to help close to 1000 disabled children and young adults through our work.”

Willmott Dixon has been a long-standing partner of the charity, donating over £120,000 since 2019. Last year, during its annual South charity challenge, Willmott Dixon raised more than £30,000.
