Held at The Regent Cinema, the event gave people the opportunity to hear evidence on the climate and nature crisis before taking part in a discussion about what it means locally and the practical action businesses and communities can take.
The film draws on the National Emergency Briefing, which brought together leading experts to set out the implications of the escalating crisis across areas including health, food systems, national security and the economy.
Currently on site delivering the new Marple Community Hub and nearby Bramhall High School, the event forms part of Willmott Dixon’s commitment to sustainability and leaving a lasting positive legacy far beyond the physical buildings.
Leanne Fletcher, Principal Sustainability Manager for the North at Willmott Dixon, said: “Our responsibility extends beyond the buildings we deliver. By bringing people together to hear the evidence and have an open conversation about what it means here in Marple, we can help turn awareness into practical action.
“The climate and nature challenge affects our businesses, communities and the places we live and work. What matters now is how we respond collectively and the positive difference we can make locally.”
Feedback following the event has already highlighted its local impact, with positive comments received from local people and supply chain partners about Willmott Dixon taking the initiative to host the screening.
Willmott Dixon has science-based targets validated by the SBTi, including a commitment to reach net zero across our value chain by 2045. Its absolute operational emissions have already been reduced by 63% since 2018 and remains a focus across all projects.
