We were a founding signatory of the UK Contractors Declare Climate and Biodiversity Emergency Commitment. We supported an open letter urging the Prime Minister to put low carbon green growth at the heart of the post-Covid economic recovery. We contributed to Aldersgate Group reports and events on 'Rebuilding to Last' – how to design an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable growth strategy (July) and were involved in a policy briefing on developing a low carbon skills strategy in support of a net zero economy. In October we contributed to the ‘Seize the moment’ report which showcased a wide range of low carbon and environmental projects that could address some of the key economic and social challenges facing the UK, following the coronavirus pandemic.
We signed up to the Social Mobility Pledge and supported Social Value UK’s open letter to policymakers in the UK urging that the Companies Act 2006 be updated to ensure that environmental and societal impact is accounted for.
Our people sit on working groups which support the UKGBC Advancing Net Zero Framework, the Better Building Partnership’s ‘Design for Performance’ initiative, and CIBSE guidance to ensure new homes meet the challenges of the Future Homes Standard. We also signed up to the World UKGBC’s Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment.
We continued to influence and share best practice across the industry, with our people speaking at a range of conferences and events including UK Construction Week, Construction News’ Inspire Me, edie, CIBSE, BSRIA Soft-Landings and Passivhaus Trust events. Our work featured in a range of publications showcasing best practice, including Construction News, edie, and BusinessGreen.
