Social Value Partners
These are the social value partners we have worked with throughout the year
Our approach to community investment and adding social value is simple. We want to make a positive difference to people’s lives. This review highlights the achievements we have made in 2018 and showcases our key stories from the year.
The Willmott Dixon Foundation was established in 2011 to guide, monitor and collate the social and community investment activities of the Willmott Dixon group of companies.
Every community is different, so we work with our customers and other stakeholders to identify local needs and priorities and then develop activities which will have the most benefit.
In the eight years since we established the Willmott Dixon Foundation, we have impacted the lives of many people – last year alone we enhanced the life chances of nearly 2,000 young people.
The impact on over a third of those young people was so great that we can genuinely say we transformed their life chances. We are on track to meet our 2020 target – to have enhanced the life chances of 10,000 young people.
Through our programmes such as ‘Ready for the Gate’ at HMP Elmley, we have continued our work to support people facing barriers to employment. This year we have also launched our Building Lives Academies, which provide training and access to employment for local people, including young people not in employment, education or training (NEETs).
In June 2018, we became a member of Social Enterprise UK’s 'Buy Social Corporate Challenge' which has a collective target for its members to spend £1billion with social enterprises. In 2019, we will continue to develop our relationships with social enterprises and expand our use of them within the company as appropriate. We will be sharing what we learn across the industry.
