Five primary schools in Powys with Energy Synergy™ performance monitoring

Rapidly delivering five primary schools for Powys County Council and identifying over £4k of in use cost savings through Energy Synergy™.

In 2018, as part of the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools programme, we delivered five primary schools for Powys County Council. The five primaries were delivered in Hay on Wye, Clyro, Llangors, Llyswen and Talgarth in 2018.

By procuring the design and construction under one contract, Powys County Council benefited from a standardised design and procurement process for all five schools. This was further supported by our extensive experience of developing standardised primary school solutions, which allow a consistent design model approach, with the ability to be adapted to meet the different site requirements.

Bridging the performance gap through Energy SynergyTM

A key component of the additional value we added to the project was through our Energy SynergyTM process, where we helped the schools to achieve savings of over £4k a year. Energy SynergyTM supports creating lower carbon buildings through helping bridge the performance gap to drive down energy costs.

Working closely with Powys Council once handed over, our comprehensive Energy SynergyTM process provided detailed measurements of energy performance to compare with modelled energy performance target data. The process provides visibility that can compare target with actual performance for a period of 2-3 years after handover.

The Energy SynergyTM process can be applied to any building once in operation and involves gathering regular, detailed measurements of energy performance to compare with modelled energy performance target data. Find out more here.
