Bolton University Technical College

One of the new wave of UTCs, built on the site of the University of Bolton

Willmott Dixon started on site in October 2014 on the new Bolton University Technical College, which is being built at the University of Bolton.

The UTC will specialise in health sciences and engineering technologies, and includes laboratories and other specialist teaching facilities. It will combine traditional academic learning, designed by the University of Bolton, with practical projects provided by local employers.

The 4,816 sq m, two-storey building is of steel frame construction with vibro compacted foundations. The external elevations are a mixture of low level brickwork, cladding and curtain walling.

Construction work will be completed by September 2015 in time for the new school year.
