Willmott Dixon has been appointed by developers noviniti to build a new £16.8m multi-storey car park at Royal Derby Hospital to provide an additional 500 spaces compared to current provision.

The car park will be spread over five storeys and replace the current surface level car park. Completion is expected in summer 2025 and it will be open to visitors and patients to help resolve parking and congestion problems on the site.

Ahead of main works starting on the new car park, Willmott Dixon has also created a temporary car park on a site near the hospital with a park-and-ride system in operation.

Throughout the planning application process, revisions were made to enhance the visual design, reduce the scale of the structure and increase the space available for green landscaping – without reducing the number of parking spaces. The result is a highly functional and well-designed new car park, including electric vehicle charging provision and louvre external cladding to improve compatibility with car headlights by reducing light spill.

Willmott Dixon recently worked with health and care property developer Prime Plc to deliver a 654-space multi-storey car park at Dorset County Hospital, creating valuable parking provision for the Trust’s staff, patients and visitors. The company is also currently on site at Darlington Station building a new 600 place multi-storey car park integrated within the bigger entrance area that is the station’s new gateway to the town.
