The abseil was to mark Willmott Dixon’s completion of Elizabeth House for developer Octavia by raising £5,000 for charity; with half going to Help for Heroes and the rest to the Octavia Foundation, a community charity set up by Octavia to supporting local people in west and central London during times of personal crisis.
Chief operating officer Charlie Scherer said; “The abseil seemed a good idea until you are dangling 121 foot in the air with nothing but air below! I’m both proud and pleased that so many colleagues from Willmott Dixon and Octavia volunteered to do it as we all had a huge sense of achievement when it was over. It made the completion of Elizabeth House a memorable occasion!”
Sue Dance, Head of Sales & Marketing at Octavia Living, commented: “This wasn’t an event for the faint-hearted! We would like to thank everyone who took part and everyone who donated generously for two great charities. The sales at Elizabeth House have gone extremely well with many first time buyers securing a new home in this vibrant area, just down the road from Wembley Stadium.”
Elizabeth House is a development of 115 new apartments prominently positioned at the east end of Wembley High Road. The abseiling team undertook the free-fall abseil down the front façade of Elizabeth House, from a height of over 120 ft or 37m.
Located less than one mile south of Wembley Stadium, Elizabeth House is part of a new vibrant neighbourhood, where the £100 million ‘Destination Wembley’ regeneration campaign has already attracted a wide range of new retail, cultural and nightlife businesses into the area. Elizabeth House offers a mixture of homes available for private sale and under shared ownership. All of the one and two bedroom homes have private balconies and spectacular views across London, while interiors benefit from a high quality specification and finish.
