Willmott Dixon's major milestone on Queen Mary University of London building
Retrofit and extension project will create 160 new workspaces to meet surging demand for computer science teaching
Willmott Dixon are literally the first out of the blocks!
It has become only the second company to officially support England’s hopefuls at the Commonwealth Games later this year in Delhi through the Friend of ‘We are England’ campaign. This provides much needed sponsorship to help the team prepare for the Games.
Peter Owen, managing director for Willmott Dixon in the Midlands explains, “We are responsible for Surrey Sports Park, Corby East Midlands International Pool and Gateshead Leisure Centre, which are all training venues for the 2012 Olympic Games. As we are so heavily involved in building facilities for sporting excellence, we wanted to become an official sponsor to back the team for what is the biggest athletics event of the year.
“Being a sponsor allows us to give our athletes the best support before they test themselves against some of the best in the world and also get set for the Olympics in two years.”
The Commonwealth Games attracts 8000 athletes from 71 nations, who together represent 25% of the world’s population. The England Team will be up against the best from the Caribbean, Africa, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, as well as strong challenges from the other home nations and from the hosts, India.
To show her appreciation for Willmott Dixon’s support, two-time Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes paid a special visit to thank the Willmott Dixon team in person for its support.
