Willmott Dixon has followed up its appointment to create 11,500m2 of new teaching space at the London School of Economics by being chosen by renowned education organisation City & Guilds to create a new office in Giltspur Street, Clerkenwell.
The project will see Willmott Dixon demolish a six storey building behind a retained façade at 5-7 Giltspur Street to keep the building’s character while providing 4,650 m2 of new office space behind the frontage. It will bring back to life a vacant property that was previously a mixed development comprising of a public house, apartments and offices.
The City & Guilds project sees Willmott Dixon construct a steel-frame seven storey building behind the 1920’s era façade to provide modern offices with latest IT infrastructure and contemporary lay-out. It also includes fit-out to Cat A and Cat B standards, with work complete in October next year.
It’s another central London project for Willmott Dixon’s team of commercial specialists, with the company also fitting-out new retail space over four floors for leading fashion brand McQ in Dover Street and creating a new spa for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge.
Other Willmott Dixon projects in the capital include the £86million Woolwich Central for Tesco develop Spen Hill and new estate regenerations in Bermondsey and Tottenham.
