Operations Manager

Willmott Dixon is recruiting an Operations Manager within our North West construction business, responsible for leading multiple project teams delivering schemes typically ranging from £10m to £90m in value.

This is a senior operational leadership role. You will act as a key link between project delivery and the wider regional leadership team, ensuring projects are set up correctly, governed rigorously, and delivered safely, predictably and profitably.

You will be involved end-to-end: from first-stage tendering and pre-construction, through live delivery, handover, and post-completion performance.


  • Leadership & Accountability - Lead and support multiple Project Leads and site teams, creating clarity, consistency and confidence in delivery.

  • Pre-Construction & Work Winning - Collaborate with Pre-Construction teams during first-stage tenders, bringing buildability, logistics and programme support -Identify and resolve early-stage risks.

  • Programme, Commercial & Risk Control - Ensure projects are planned properly, reported honestly, and recovered early when performance deviates.

  • Design, Quality & Technical Assurance - Lead operational input into design development, ensuring information is complete, coordinated and buildable.

  • Supply Chain Leadership - Build long-term, trusted relationships with Supply Chain Partners.

  • Safety, Health, Environment & Sustainability - Be visibly accountable for the highest standards of SHE and act decisively where unsafe behaviors or conditions are observed.

  • Customers & Reputation - Act as a trusted senior interface for customers.

  • What Success Looks Like - Projects are calmly controlled and well reported with the teams feeling clear, supported and accountable.

Essential and Desirable Criteria

Essential Criteria



  • Experience leading multiple live construction projects.

  • Strong track record of resolving technical, operational and contractual challenges.

  • Ability to control programme, cost, quality and risk.

  • Experience working closely with commercial teams, designers and supply chain partners.

  • Ability to interpret contracts, programmes, drawings and specifications.

  • Relevant Level 4 qualification (HNC / NVQ4 or equivalent).

  • Full UK driving license.


Desirable


  • Experience across multiple sectors.

  • Degree in a construction-related discipline.

  • MCIOB status (or working towards).
