The Beeches and The Nevilles Housing, Leeds
Delivering much needed social housing in Leeds
Working on behalf of Leeds City Council, we have delivered 59 new homes across two sites in Gipton and Osmondthorpe; The Beeches and The Nevilles.
Procured through the YORBuild 2 framework, the two sites feature a range of two-, three- and four-bedroom properties, with 32 units on The Nevilles site and 27 units at The Beeches location – all of which will be exclusively reserved for social housing. The developments include bungalows and disabled units, featuring facilities such as accessible bathrooms, hoist lifts through the floors, stairlifts, grab rails and bedroom hoists.
All of the properties will also deliver reduced running costs for residents, contributing to a reduction in fuel poverty levels.
Stuart Kerr, director for Willmott Dixon, said: “Social housing is in high demand, so we’re proud to have delivered these much-needed homes on behalf of Leeds City Council. Furthermore, each unit has been adapted to fit the resident’s needs and provide a bespoke solution, making them even more valuable to those with specific accessibility requirements.”
Social value at the heart
Their delivery has contributed to the creation of employment, skills and apprenticeship opportunities, addressing social, economic and environmental challenges and supporting wider regeneration aspirations.
Stuart Kerr, director for Willmott Dixon explains:
“Throughout the project, over 10% of the project’s value was invested back into the community, equating to a monetary value of £940k. This saw us working with schools and colleges, and on local projects, as well as ensuring that at least 80% of spend and labour is within 40 miles of the site.
“Our team also supported the nearby school, Meadowfield, by organising the Parent Pod project, which provided a place for parents and carers to meet to share ideas and skills. More than 500 students, their parents, carers, and the surrounding community benefitted from this project. Early in the project, we also held a competition for the pupils where the children were able to come up with ideas for a street name - the winning entry was decided by Councillor Cooper who chose ‘Meadowfield Gardens’.”
We’re experienced in delivering residential schemes across the UK, working in collaboration with the public sector and other private sector partners to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. We also have extensive experience in building all types of residential developments - from housing estates to care homes, retirement villages, mixed-use, and student accommodation, as well as build to rent.
