Willmott Dixon secures Eston Pool development
Appointment follows successful leisure hub project in Morpeth
Willmott Dixon Re-Thinking director David Adams used a packed meeting in the House of Commons on 3rd November organised by the Aldersgate Group to urge his fellow speaker, DEFRA secretary of state Caroline Spelman, to provide more incentives for residential and commercial property owners to ‘go green’. This includes lower stamp duty to reward a home’s efficient energy performance and incentives for commercial property to invest in achieving high rating Display Energy Certificates.
Speaking to over 300 people representing banks, utility companies, RSLs and developers, David said, “Property has a great opportunity to drive economic growth because so much of it is energy inefficient. We need more encouragement from Government for people to invest in their property efficiency, which in turn will attract more investors ready to provide the capital required to carry out the work. Adopting policies to reward green investment by lowering stamp duty will be a powerful driver for change, while we also need companies to be incentivised to invest in property with high performing Display Energy Certificates.”
