Willmott Dixon picked up two wins at the Celebrating Construction awards.

We scooped the ‘Built in Quality’ Community award for its work on a new £3.1m visitor centre at Walsall Arboretum – the showpiece of park, which features a café, classroom, meeting space, toilet and offices.

We also picked up the Leisure award for a new 700 seater stand and six lane indoor bowls rink at Moseley RFC.

Peter Owen, managing director at Willmott Dixon, said:

“These are both significant projects within the Birmingham area, and we are very pleased that our work on delivering brand new community facilities at both sites has been recognised through this award.

The restoration of Walsall Arboretum began in 2010 and the completion of the visitor centre is the final piece of the multi-million pound revamp that has seen the park transformed. The project presented unique challenges as it involved the part-demolition of the original building that dates back to the 1860’s as well as the construction of the new building, but we are delighted to have completed it.

Likewise, the new stand and associated changing, catering and function facilities – as well as a brand new indoor bowls rink – at Moseley Rugby Club is something that had been in the pipeline for more than a decade, and it is very exciting to see it open for business."

The Celebrating Construction awards at the ICC in Birmingham combined Acivico’s ‘Built in Quality’ awards and the Built Environment Hub’s ‘Constructing Excellence’ awards.
