Net zero carbon in operation refers to a building or infrastructure that, over the course of its use, does not contribute any net carbon emissions to the atmosphere from its day-to-day energy consumption. Carbon emissions result from the energy conusmed during the operation of a building, including all energy consumed by and within a building such as lighting, heating/cooling, ventilation, and small electrical power.
